I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I've never really read anything else on documentaries, but this book gives a really great outline of the main points of discussion and breaks them down with solid examples from documentaries though out the last century. I got this for a class and have read it all this summer before the class starts and unlike some other class's textbooks, this book actually seemed comprehensive without needing additional clarification from the professor. Also, the book I received was in great condition :)

This book provides a comprehensive view of documentary film studies and the current mechanisms that define the profession. Full of great vocabulary and devices that help with deconstructing what a documentary is trying to say and how it's trying to say it. Very useful for film students or just people who enjoy the occasional Netflix documentary.
