About the Author
David Adler was born April 10, 1947. He graduated Queens College in 1968 with a BA in economics and education and licenses to teach mathematics and history. He then worked for nine years as a New York City mathematics teacher. While teaching he studied at New York University and in 1971 was awarded an MBA in marketing. He began work on a PhD in marketing when inspiration struck and he wrote his first book, A LITTLE AT A TIME (Random House, 1976). Suddenly his focus changed from marketing to writing. In 1973 he married Renee Hamada, a psychologist, and in 1977 their first child, Michael was born. By that time David had written several books. He was granted a child-care leave from teaching and while Renee continued her work, David stayed home, took care of Michael, and wrote in earnest. It was during his first year on leave that he wrote CAM JANSEN AND THE MYSTERY OF THE STOLEN DIAMONDS. David's ANDY RUSSELL series was inspired by another family member and the many adventures the family had with his enthusiasm and his pets. He lives in New York State. www.davidaadler.com.

Perfect introduction to George Washington for a small child. Entertaining illustrations with one or two brief sentences to whet a child's appetite about our first president. Brief bullet points to give a nice overview, it's not too involved and an educator can choose to introduce more information to match the level of the child. Perfect as a starter book that can begin a unit allowing for a child to pick an area to research for more details. As it is, I find it perfect for the kindergarden set.
Was a fun book to read on George Washington's Birthday to the 2nd and 4th graders.
My seven year-old really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are so nicd, as well as the history of Washington's life. We will read it again ... great addition to our home library.
My son had a book report for first grade on George Washington and this book gave us all the biography information we needed for the report. I was hoping for more fun facts or cool stories, but for first grade, the book was basic and perfect for the book report. Plan to keep for the next child going through first grade.
Not for 4-5 year olds. Text is great, great for 2nd graders
A great book that does a great job teaching children about George Washington. I will continue to buy this author's books.
Our 3.5yr old loves it. We're ordering other books in the series.
Enough biographical info and great pictures so that even a 4 or 5-yr old child becomes interested in learning more about who Geo Washington was and what his contribution was to America.
