The book goes through a very wellIllustrated list of examples on the setting up a secure DevOps CI/CD pipeline on AWS infrastructure. The book lists good tools and examples to show how to architect an AWS cloud for security. If I had to criticize one aspect I would say the book is too AWS focused and t could use some parallels to list examples with other cloud vendors (Azure, Google cloud, etc) but that’s not a big deal - the examples are quite realistic and show the author’s practical knowledge of the topic.
This is the top book I recommend to anyone interested in infosec or currently an expert somewhere in infosec. I've been in infosec for over a decade and currently work as an AWS security consultant. This book teaches the high-level concepts that you only learn from maintaining infrastructure, but provides working examples so you can get your hands dirty if needed. I had been reading the ebook version as it was being written and am thrilled to now have a print version, which I can give to people.Reading this book is equivalent to at least one year of on the job of experience. It touches on a lot of ideas and does so in a way that I think is both understandable to the newcomer and also will teach some new things to those with some expertise on the topics.
Hands down the best book on the topic out there. I bought the book through Manning's MEAP program, but I wanted to review the it here due to the audience. I recently finished working through the book and it was phenomenal. The book lays down in very clear and concise manners the conceptual, technical, and practical methods and rational used to develop a modern, lean, and effective DevOps cybersecurity program from inception to functional maturity. The book also provided detailed step-by-step examples on how tom implement the security controls and methods covered on the book.
"Securing Devops by Julien Vehent" - the topics covered in the book is so detailed . The author starts each chapter with very clear introduction before going deep into each. The book also covers various open source security tools which Infosec engineers/SecDevops engineers can leverage, the usage of the tools, configurations are covered in greater detail . This book is my favorite reference guide in my desk at office while we are starting to add some continuous security automation. The architecture diagrams /code snippet references are so helpful to understand each topic. I wish and hope Julien also plans and comes with second edition sometime in the future. All the best !
